Both teams to score and match result combines two conditions in one football selection. A pick such as 1 & GG needs a home win and at least one goal from each side. If either part fails, the combined selection loses, even when the other part was right.
What 1, X, 2 and GG/NG mean together
Bet9ja and MSport Nigeria publish six 1X2 + GG/NG outcomes. The first part identifies home win, draw or away win. The second part says whether both teams score (GG) or at least one team finishes on zero (NG). The bookmaker offers one price for the whole combination.
| Pick | Example score | Conditions met |
|---|---|---|
| 1 & GG | 2–1 | Home win, both score |
| X & GG | 1–1 | Draw, both score |
| 2 & GG | 1–2 | Away win, both score |
| 1 & NG | 2–0 | Home win, away zero |
| X & NG | 0–0 | Draw, neither scores |
| 2 & NG | 0–2 | Away win, home zero |
The six scorelines are instructional examples. A 0–0 draw is the only possible score for X & NG: a 1–1 draw has both teams scoring and belongs to X & GG. A 2–2 draw also belongs to X & GG.
That makes the X pair easy to separate by checking whether the draw was goalless.
For a home win, the opponent’s goal decides GG or NG. A 3–1 result wins 1 & GG; a 3–0 result wins 1 & NG. The home winner is the same in both. The away-win combinations work the same way with the team order reversed.
Why a partly correct combo loses
A combined selection is settled on the intersection of its two conditions. If you back 1 & GG and the match ends 2–0, you got the home win but missed GG. If it ends 1–2, both teams scored but the away side won. Both results lose 1 & GG.
By contrast, a plain GG selection at 1–2 wins because GG settles through the scoring condition alone. A plain home-win 1 selection at 2–0 also wins because the home win alone settles that market. A both teams to score and match result combo costs one stake and has one price; the operator settles it as one selection.
For an instructional ₦1,000 stake at 3.50 on 1 & GG, a qualifying 2–1 home win returns ₦3,500 including stake. A 2–0 home win returns nothing. This arithmetic describes the accepted price, not the likelihood of that score or any promise of profit.
Period and credited goals
The full-time 1X2 + GG/NG market uses the normal-time score, including added minutes. Extra time and penalties in a knockout fixture need an explicitly different market label. Bet9ja also has half-specific combination markets, which use the score within that half. The period shown on the slip decides which goals count.
Own goals affect the team score to which they are credited. MSport Nigeria’s football rules state that own goals count for the credited side. If an own goal gives the away team its only goal in a 2–1 home result, both teams have goals on the official scoreboard and the combination is 1 & GG.
Live betting adds another practical detail: a combo selected during play can have a different accepted price from its pre-match price. The final conditions remain the two printed on the confirmed slip. Read the saved market name and odds rather than relying on a later screen showing a different selection.
Checking a combo before confirming
Read the result symbol and the GG/NG symbol separately, then put them back together. For X & GG, the final score must be level and each team must have scored. For 2 & NG, the away side must win while the home side stays on zero. NG remains the result if only one team scores.
The betting sites in Nigeria guide covers bookmaker choices beyond a single market. For this combo, the most useful check is a two-column note: match result on one side, each team’s goal tally on the other. A score qualifies only when it satisfies both columns.
