Basketball overtime betting rules follow the period named on the ticket. BetPawa Nigeria’s full-time moneyline and full-time total explicitly include overtime. Bet9ja’s live basketball rules also treat its match outcome as including overtime, while its 3-way market settles at the end of regular time.

Full-game moneyline after overtime

A full-game moneyline asks which team wins the completed match. If regulation ends level and overtime produces a winner, the overtime result decides that market when its label includes overtime. BetPawa Nigeria states this for its full-time moneyline.

A 3-way regular-time pick offers home, draw or away at the end of regulation. It can settle as a draw even though overtime later produces a match winner. Bet9ja’s live rules list a 3-way market for regular time and a separate winner including overtime.

Instructional score: 88–88 at regulation, 101–96 after overtime
Market Relevant score Winning outcome
3-way regular time 88–88 Draw
Full-game moneyline incl. OT 101–96 Home
Total over 190.5 incl. OT 197 points Over

The score is an arithmetic example, not a real fixture. The full-game total is 101 plus 96. A regular-time total on the same example would use 176 points, so the time label can reverse an over-or-under result.

Overtime in totals and handicaps

BetPawa Nigeria labels its full-time points total as including overtime. Bet9ja’s live rules offer both an over-under including overtime and an over-under limited to regular time. That difference determines which scoreboard total settles the slip.

The same caution applies to handicaps. A spread attached to the whole game can be affected by overtime scoring; a first-half or quarter market finishes earlier. Read the exact period beside the line, not just the points number.

Player markets have their own conditions. A player’s overtime rebounds or points may count when the market says full game including overtime. The bookmaker can also require that the named player participates. Look up that player market’s wording rather than borrowing the team-total rule.

Some basketball competitions have different regulation lengths, and betPawa lists NBA and NCAA as exceptions to its standard match-length description. The period label, not the number of minutes alone, identifies settlement. Use official quarter or half scores to check a first-half bet before adding an overtime period that the market excludes.

For the example score above, the regular-time total is 176 and the completed game total is 197. A total line of 180.5 would settle under on a regular-time market and over on a market including overtime. The same teams and game have two valid totals because the markets end at different points.

Verify the period used for settlement

Keep the accepted slip with its “regular time”, “full time incl. OT” or quarter label. Obtain the competition’s period-by-period score. Add the quarters relevant to your market, then include overtime only where the label requires it.

A first-quarter points bet closes after that quarter, even if the match later reaches overtime. A full-game player-points market uses its own wording about overtime and player participation. Keep the quarter score separate from the final total when querying a result.

If a settled ticket used the wrong period, send its ID and the period scores to the operator. If you use a bookmaker in the betting sites in Nigeria comparison, read the full market name before treating overtime as part of its score.
