An anytime goalscorer bet backs a named player to score at least once during the market period. A substitute can still be a valid scorer under BetKing and betPawa Nigeria rules once they take the field. An unused substitute is void under those rules, while an own goal never wins the named-player bet.
When does the player bet win?
BetKing defines its Last/Anytime Goalscorer market as a named player scoring during normal time, including injury time. betPawa Nigeria gives the same 90-minute boundary for its anytime market. One counted goal wins an ordinary anytime single.
A penalty scored by the selected player is a goal credited to that player under ordinary football scoring. An own goal adds to the other team’s score. It gives the player no scorer credit. Both BetKing and betPawa explicitly exclude own goals from anytime scorer bets.
| Player event | Ordinary result | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Starts and scores | Win | Named player scores |
| Comes on and scores | Win | Substitute participates and scores |
| Unused substitute | Void | Player never entered |
| Scores an own goal only | Loss if they played | Own goal excluded |
The grid shows the BetKing and betPawa rules. A player who enters for a few minutes has taken part under BetKing’s rule. If that player finishes without a counted goal, the bet loses. Even a brief appearance keeps the bet live.
What if a substitute stays on the bench?
An unused substitute remains on the bench for the entire match. BetKing says bets on players who take no part are void; betPawa says the single stake is refunded and the leg is removed from a multiple. A player left out of the squad also leaves the bet void under BetKing’s rule.
A substitute who enters at 70 minutes and scores at 82 minutes wins an anytime bet at those sites. If the same substitute enters but scores no goal, the bet loses.
The goal’s timing before or after an earlier team goal is relevant to first-goalscorer markets, but the anytime market asks for any valid goal by the chosen player.
For an international rule comparison, Bet365’s US-localised player-goalscoring help says its Player to Score at Any Time bets are no action if the selected player begins on the bench. BetKing and betPawa Nigeria instead ask whether the player took the field. Check the rule of the site where you place the bet.
Own goals, added time and extra time
An own goal changes the team score. It gives the selected defender no scorer credit. Suppose a player enters, scores an own goal and has no other counted goal. Under BetKing and betPawa rules, the named-player bet loses because the player participated without scoring a valid goal.
A counted goal at 90+ minutes counts in the normal-time anytime market. The standard betPawa anytime market settles at the normal-time whistle. If the selected player scores only after the normal-time whistle, that ordinary bet loses if the player took the field. A specially labelled extra-time player market would need its own terms.
If a match is abandoned, betPawa distinguishes outcomes already decided from unresolved bets in its wider rules. Keep the saved slip and use the site’s settled result; a live match feed can stop before the market’s normal end.
What to check on the scorer slip
The saved bet should show the named player, “anytime”, the fixture and the relevant site. Lineup status matters most where the site requires a starter. When playing time is the test, a bench player who stays out is void and a player who enters stays live.
